Microwaves are a good thing, especially for making fast snacks. Apples are a good thing, especially in the fall. Combining the two… well, it’s pretty darn awesome.

Ingredients

  • 4 baking apples, such as Granny Smith
  • 2 Tb cinnamon sugar
  • 1 ts ground nutmeg
  • 4 Tb butter

Procedure

  1. Peel, core, and slice apples into thin slices. Divide evenly between four microwave-safe bowls.
  2. Divide remaining ingredients between bowls. Dot apples with butter and sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon sugar.
  3. Microwave on HIGH setting for 5-10 minutes, or until apples are tender but not mushy.

Serving suggestions

Top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, or serve with hunks of French bread and cheddar cheese.
